Lag B’Omer

Bonfire on the Beach for Lag B’Omer! But what is this holiday about anyway? Short story: quite a bit!

1) Marks the end of a mourning period that connects Pesach (the exodus from Egypt) and Shavuot (when the Israelites received the Torah from Mount Sinai)

2) celebrates the end of a plague in 100 CE (a cause we can all get behind, yeesh)

3) yarzheit of a famous mystical scholar and

4) a military victory in 66CE. Anyway Lag B’Omer is an excuse to light a fire, set up a picnic and have a good time so that’s what we’re going to do at Horseshoe Bay starting at 3:00. RSVP here, suggested donation of double chai ($36)
